Silk - Kurly Kantha brown

This beautiful silk is hand-woven in Bangladesh en block printed by hand with vegetable dyes. The contours of the print are embroidered by hand with a traditional stitching technique, the Nakshi Kantha. The obtaining of the silk is done on a animal friendly way. There is waited until the silkworm breaks open naturally, this results in a somewhat coarse-fibred fabric.

With this fabric we support the Kumundi Welfare Trust in Bangladesh. The CAREss project provides work to more than 25.000 women, all over Bangladesh. It also provides free medical care and education for the rural people. Besides this project sees to it that traditional handcraft is used again in modern fabrics.

This fabric is made exclusively for us in this combination of color, print and material.
